We’re Great Southern Pies – Christchurch’s local, privately-owned purveyor of affordable, gourmet pies, standing steadfast in our Southern roots. Our promise is as fresh and hearty as the pies we bake, as strong and no-nonsense as the South Island spirit. It’s a promise we intend to keep, one delicious pie at a time.

Our Pastry A great pie starts with great pastry. We use 100% pure New Zealand grown and milled flour, from pedigree wheat crops planted and harvested in the South Canterbury plains to craft a delicious crispy yet sturdy pastry, that can stand up to our tasty and robust fillings.

Our Ingredients We create simple, convenient, honest pies for busy Kiwis, using high-quality ingredients you can trust. We work with established suppliers to use primarily local ingredients to support Kiwi businesses, constantly monitoring our supply chain and minimising our carbon footprint.

Our Beef Our beef comes from major Kiwi suppliers, including Silver Fern Farms and Alliance Group, who select only prime steer, 95% lean, grass fed beef, certified halal. When we get it, we expertly season and slow cook it, resulting in tender, juicy, well-infused meat ready for our pie forms.

Our Sustainability We aim to be sustainable, working with established, local suppliers to ensure that we reduce our carbon footprint, with the ultimate aim of contributing to a circular economy.
